Dallas College’s New Online Management Degree Has a CBE Finish
Online Programs
Dallas College’s new online management bachelor’s uses competency-based courses for its final 30 credits. Check how your credits fit, which tuition rate applies and how the term rules work.
Dallas College has added a fully online Bachelor of Applied Science in Management. Its competency-based portion launched in August 2026, according to the Competency-Based Education Network, which helped develop the program. For adults with an associate degree or unfinished college work, it adds another option to investigate this fall. Launch report · Dallas College’s program announcement
Two details deserve an early look: where self-paced study begins, and which tuition rate you would actually pay. Your prior credits and remaining requirements will determine whether this path deserves a place on your shortlist.
Where the self-paced portion fits
The 120-credit structure includes 60 credits from an associate degree, 30 in core or business preparation, and 30 in upper-division competency-based management courses. Dallas College describes pathways from an AA, AS or AAS. Program structure
That makes your starting point important. Having substantial college credit does not establish that you are ready for the final phase. Ask for a degree audit that places each usable course into the BAS requirements and identifies any preparation still needed.
The college’s August announcement confirms that students demonstrate mastery to progress through the final 30 credits. It does not establish a completion pace for your own coursework. Dallas College announcement

Read the price by residency
Dallas College advertises an estimated $11,880 in tuition for the degree at Dallas County rates. Its business-program page says most required learning materials are included in tuition, while some programs can have additional costs. Treat the advertised amount as a starting estimate rather than your personal total. Published tuition estimate and qualifications
The college’s general credit-course rates are $99 per credit for Dallas County residents, $169 for out-of-county Texas residents, and $250 for out-of-state or out-of-country residents. These general rates alone do not settle the program’s flat-rate bill. Current tuition
Dallas College determines your tuition residency during admission. Qualifying for the county rate involves both Texas residency and where you live within the state. Online attendance does not establish that classification. Residency policy
Check the eight-week tuition rules
The program page describes a flat-rate eight-week term starting with two courses. After completing them, students can add courses without additional tuition if they request the additions before the end of week five. Additional courses are added one at a time as work is completed. Term rules
As checked October 9, that page does not specify the flat-rate dollar amount. Ask for a written quote showing your residency rate, the courses covered, and what happens if a course remains unfinished. A useful budget should also identify any assessment, material or other charges and the cost of an additional term.
Get clarity before choosing first-term courses
Dallas College’s general transfer-enrollment instructions say it evaluates official transcripts and provides an official evaluation before the end of the first semester. Ask when your BAS-specific review can be completed and what can be confirmed before you register or pay. Transfer-enrollment instructions
Use that conversation to request:
A list of remaining degree requirements, including any minimum credits that must be completed through Dallas College
Confirmation of admission and prerequisite requirements, your next available start, and eligibility to study from your state if you live outside Texas
A realistic course sequence and total remaining-cost estimate for your expected pace
The college also offers credit for prior learning assessment. Ask which requirements an approved award could satisfy before spending money on new alternative-credit courses or assuming experience will replace coursework.
